The calm before the storm

When Baby S was born Paul made the decision to leave his career in accounting (which was just taking off... but hated) to work for himself so that he could be around and help with the new born and older children.

I know not everyone thought it was a good idea at the time but almost 4 years later I think it's one of our best decisions to date. We had no idea back then that Baby S would also be autistic and would need as much support as he does but I really would have struggled balancing all the children and appointments etc with him out of the house from 8-6 every day.

The result would have been me having to give up my job which I love and that's just a rubbish situation. The trade off has obviously been money... There is no sugarcoating it, neither of our jobs make what he was in his old position but is the money worth wearing us down and giving us a very strained quality of life? I don't think so.

This September S is due to start school and it feels like we're on the edge of a new time in our lives. The year after Mr L and Mr R also start secondary school which will also give us more parental freedom (eventually.)

I don't know what's going to happen work-wise with either of us right now but it does feel like we're moving towards more options. I love that we both do things that we enjoy now so maybe just the ability to do more of it is where we're going... who knows? There is no plan can you tell?
